A stunning, antique cloth hardback book, published by The Walter Scott Publishing Company in 1906.
With a vivid, colourful cover, gold gilt end papers and black and white illustrations scattered throughout. Illustrations are by T. Eyre Macklin.
Such a beautiful book, a perfect, special gift for any book lover.
To say this book is over 110 years old, it is in absolutely wonderful condition! The spine is stable, there are no torn or missing pages and the gold gilt is still shiny. There is some wear to the top of the spine, some tanning to some of the pages and some slight bumping to the corners, all to be expected for a book of this age. The only thing to note is that something (possibly metal) has been placed between pages 116 and 117, which has marked the pages. It looks like the majority of it could be cleaned off, but I will leave that to the experts!
There is a handwritten inscription on one of the back pages, I cannot make out what it says. I have pictured all of the above.
