A lovely antique cloth embossed hardback book. With an intricately embossed cover, highlighted with gold gilt on both the front cover and spine.

Beautiful etched illustrations scattered throughout. Even the back cover is embossed.

Such a beautiful book, it would look great on a shelf for all to see, or a perfect gift for any Victorian book lover.

Published by SW Partridge & Co. Undated but research leads us to believe it to be a first edition, incredibly rare and published around 1879.

The spine is a little unstable, but there are no torn or missing pages that we can find. The gilt is still shiny. There is some wear to the top and bottom of the spine, some tanning to some of the pages and some slight bumping to the corners, all to be expected for a book of this age. Some of the pages appear loose due to the instability of the spine, however, they are still attached.

There is a handwritten inscription in the front cover which reads, ‘Charles William Berry, Shepley, August, 1883’.
