A stunning collection of four Flow Blue plates, produced by Doulton (which later became Royal Doulton) circa 1890.

Flow Blue is a style of white earthenware, sometimes porcelain, that originated in the Regency era, sometime in the 1820’s, amongst the potters of Staffordshire. The name is derived from the blue glaze that blurred or ‘flowed’ during the firing process.

These rare, highly collectible and sought after plates, feature their ‘Melrose’ pattern, pattern number 316420.

Each plate is 26cm in diameter.

None of the plates are cracked.

The gold rim is almost completely worn on all plates.

Two of the plates has a small piece of glaze missing at the back.

One of the plates has a very small chip to the rim.

Two of the plates have crazing to the glaze.
